Pep Guardiola declares end to his Manchester City tenure after Club World Cup victory

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, declared the conclusion of a significant phase at the Premier League club following their Club World Cup triumph with a 4-0 win over Fluminense.

This latest victory marked Guardiola’s fifth trophy of 2023 and solidified his achievement of winning every available trophy since he took over as manager in 2016.

Reflecting on the win, Guardiola expressed his satisfaction, stating that he felt the chapter was closed. “We’ve won all the titles available; there’s nothing more to achieve. It feels like the job is complete, it’s done,” he remarked.

With 18 months remaining on his contract, Guardiola hinted at a sense of closure after eight years. He added, “Now as we approach Christmas, it’s time to start a new chapter, to purchase another book and begin writing again. The past eight years, it’s come to an end.”
