Napoli’s caretaker coach, Francesco Calzona, has provided an optimistic update on Victor Osimhen’s status ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona.
Osimhen was absent from Napoli’s squad in the recent Serie A match against Genoa due to a minor muscular problem and fatigue following his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Calzona, who stepped in for Walter Mazzarri, revealed that Osimhen participated in full training on Tuesday.
“Osimhen trained with the team; naturally, it was not a lengthy session as we had many things to cover, but he was working at full tempo,” Calzona informed the media ahead of the upcoming game. “All the players will be assessed after tomorrow’s session.”
Napoli is set to host the first leg of the UEFA Champions League tie at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Wednesday.
The positive news regarding Osimhen’s involvement in training is a reassuring sign for Napoli as they prepare for this crucial fixture.
